Dr. Joyce Kinyanjui

Dr. Joyce Kinyanjui (Kenya) is the Managing Director of ziziAfrique a Kenyan organization that envisions an Africa in which each child has an equal opportunity to grow, learn, think and thrive. She was a visiting Echidna Global Scholar at the Center for Universal Education at the Brookings Institution in 2016. Her research at CUE was an 11 county landscape analysis of mentorship programs being implemented in government schools and their impacts on retention and learning outcomes for girls. She was a member of the Center for Universal Education (CUE) at the Brookings Institution Learning Metrics Task Force and later with CUE’s Learning Champion collaborations and Breadth of Learning Opportunity project. Joyce previously worked as a Program Manager and Executive Officer at Women Educational Researchers of Kenya (WERK).

She has over 25 years’ experience in the education sector specifically in developing Citizen Led Assessments (CLA) in: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Ghana, Nigeria and Mali; classroom-based assessment mainly Early Grade Reading Assessments (EGRA) in English, Kiswahili and Maa and Early Grade Maths Assessment (EGMA); classroom pedagogy; teacher training and teacher mentorship and coaching.
